OncoBEAM™ PIK3CA

  • The OncoBEAM™ PIK3CA test is a bead-based digital PCR approach (also called BEAMing Digital PCR) allowing for the detection of up to 8 different mutations within the PIK3CA gene from a single sample.
  • Mutations covered:

Phosphatidylinositol 3′-kinase (PIK3CA) is a lipid kinase promoting various biological properties including proliferation, survival, and morphology changes.

PIK3CA is frequently mutated in human cancer (1).The presence of PIK3CA mutations in a tumor has been suggested as a prognostic factor (2) and may predict the response to treatment (3). There are a number of inhibitors for targeting PIK3CA in clinical development. Furthermore, recent studies have suggested that survival of patients with PIK3CA-mutated colorectal cancers is improved by regular use of Aspirin (4).
